Dental Implants Q & A

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are false teeth that consist of a titanium post that acts like a tooth root, a crown, and an abutment that connects the crown to the post. Dr. Karimian offers dental implants to replace some or all of your teeth. In addition to traditional single dental implants, he also offers All-on-4® dental implants to replace all of your teeth.

What are All-on-4 dental implants?

All-on-4 dental implants are an innovative dental solution in which full plates of false teeth are securely attached to your jaw with just four strategically placed titanium posts. All-on-4 implants are typically installed in just one day and typically don’t require any bone grafting to ensure your jaw is strong enough to support the implants. All-on-4 implants don’t typically require bone grafting because the implants at the back of your mouth are inserted at an angle to make the most of the available jaw bone.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Dental implants offer a variety of benefits. Not only are they comfortable and easy to care for, but they are a natural-looking permanent solution to lost adult teeth. Additionally, the titanium posts stimulate your jaw the same way your natural teeth would, stimulating bone growth in your jaw for strength and stability. They’re extremely durable, so you can eat and drink normally after they’ve been fitted. They also eliminate the need for any messy adhesives since they’re permanently fixed to your jaw.

How are dental implants installed?

Dr. Karimian uses state-of-the-art 3D imaging and Cone Beam CT scans to both plan and properly position your dental implants. If possible, Dr. Karimian offers teeth in a day treatments where you are fitted with your implants, typically an All-on-4 implant. However, depending on your need you may need several visits to complete the implantation process.

The first step is an exam to determine the best implant option to replace your missing teeth. Dr. Karimian checks the health of your gums and jaw, using X-rays and CT scans to check bone density and structural integrity. If necessary, Dr. Karimian will perform a bone grafting procedure.

The next steps involve placing the implants in your jaw and then fitting the abutments and crowns. Dr. Karimian uses advanced imaging tools to guide the placement of each implant to ensure they’re placed correctly.

Depending on the kind of dental implants you choose, you may need to wait between each step for the posts to bond with your jaw and for your gums to heal. Dr. Karimian provides customized advice on what treatment is best for you.
